The Importance of Following an Acne Diet

An acne diet is incredibly important in helping not only to treat present acne, but to prevent future breakouts too. Whether you have acne already or just want to avoid getting it, it is important that you create and stick by an appropriate acne diet.

It can be difficult to get started on coming up with an acne diet, especially if you have had a hard time eating healthy in the past. It is important that you include a proper amount of protein, fat, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals and water in your diet.

Protein

Proteins have nutrients that are essential to the building and maintenance of body tissue, including the skin and muscles. Proteins can be found in almost all foods, but there are only a few particular foods that contain complete proteins, meaning that they provide all eight essential amino acids. These foods are fish, meat, eggs, and cheese, as well as all other foods from animal sources.

Fat

Fat is also important, but know that there are both good fats and bad fats. Then there are carbohydrates which are what provide fuel for the body in the form of glucose. Glucose is a sugar and so obviously you want to be careful with the amount of carbohydrates that you are consuming, but your body still needs them to be healthy nonetheless.

Vitamins

Vitamins are almost always good for you, and there are actually 13 vitamins in particular which are considered as being essential to the body. There are also the minerals, which are similar to vitamins in that they are vital to the proper function of the body. You should be consuming foods with minerals such as calcium, potassium and iron if you want to be healthy and keep your skin clean and acne free.

Also to supplement your acne diet you are going to want to include certain acne treatment products, especially if you are already dealing with acne. This could include something as simple as an acne cream to a more serious treatment option, such as microdermabrasion or laser scar removal.

By following a proper acne diet you will be able to deal with acne now and prevent future breakouts. Keeping your skin in good condition is important because it will boost your self esteem and leave you looking and feeling a great deal better. Just make sure that you stick to this diet and make it a concrete part of your life.

Everything You Need to Know About Acne

Acne is a very common skin problem, one that affects millions of people around the world. More specifically, acne is the term that is used to describe plugged pores, pimples, and cysts that appear on the face and other areas of the body. Acne can occur on one’s face, chest, back, even the shoulders and upper arms.

Acne can be so mild that it is hardly noticeable or so severe that it can result in being devastating to the person’s self esteem. Some people do not even want to leave their home because of their condition, and so it can really end up being quite debilitating.

Causes

One of the biggest questions surrounding this skin condition is what causes it. There are actually a few answers to this question, but first it should be known that the myth that fatty and sugary foods cause acne is actually not true.

Basically acne occurs when the pores on the skin become clogged. Each separate pore is an opening to a canal known as a follicle, and when glands in the skin begin to produce too much oil the pores can end up blocked and will then begin to accumulate dirt and debris. As a result of this, usually but not always pimples will develop.

Acne can also be triggered by genetics, as family history plays a major role here. Hormonal changes related to menstrual periods or pregnancy, greasy or oily cosmetic products, certain medications, and high levels of humidity, all of these can trigger acne.

You will notice that you have acne if you have certain symptoms, including whiteheads, blackheads, cysts, redness on the skin, crusting of skin eruptions, or scarring on the skin.

Depending on how serious your condition is you may want to get treatment for it, and the best way to determine the appropriate treatment for you will be to speak to your doctor, or better yet a dermatologist. They will look at your skin and from this be able to assess the severity of your condition and decide on a treatment method.

Usually they will suggest a lifestyle change first, but there are various acne creams and lotions that are available which you can use to deal with your present acne and to prevent it from being so severe in the future. Medication may also be prescribed to help with your acne, but this should only be on the suggestion of a medical professional.
